Proverbs 18:24

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that stickers closer than a brother.

True love and friendship are easy to find, contrary to what the father of lies has people believing. ( John 8:44 ).

Finding true love and true friends is easy, but this is only a reality for those who surrender their lives to God. Only when you are where and when God wants you to be and walk on the path He destined for you that everything falls into place. You meet your destiny helpers, friends who build you and draw you closer to God and true love that you won’t and never will find anywhere else.

The enemy will convince you that you can’t find these until you go looking in the wrong places and you end up with the wrong people, doing wrong things, trying to please people who don’t care and definitely being drawn further away from God.

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 15:33, ‘Do not be misled; bad company ruins good character.’ When God sent His own son to die for us, it is clear that after His death we are supposed to rest in His perfect, finished works. ( Hebrews 4:9-11)

Entering into God’s rest is worry for nothing, wanting and needing nothing a, being at peace because you know over 2000 years ago Jesus declared, ‘it is finished’ when He died on the cross. Being in God’s rest doesn’t happen overnight, sincerely speaking, I am learning it everyday. This can be attained when you surrender your all to Him totally and completely, when you put Him first always, even in the minor details such as asking Him what to wear, because if it is a concern to you…it is a matter of concern to Him too.

When you enter God’s rest, you go through a process of being made a vessel of honor ( 2 Timothy 2:20-21). It is usually a painful process of separation,  He separates you from the world and worldy things, your social circle grows smaller, you lose patience for certain people and things and behaviours. The friends you love so much no longer communicate and vice versa…He removes what you want and puts in place people and things you never thought you needed but you do. It’s a process of purification and sanctification. He is setting you aside for His use.

It is painful but worth it. He removes what is not from and of Him and gets you ready to receive what is of and from Him all to the glory of His name. ( Malachi 3:3, Acts 15:9, James 4:8, Psalms 12:6, 1 John 3:3, Numbers 31:23).

This process makes you refined and a vessel of honor. Our God is a consuming fire ( Hebrews 12:29) . Ezekiel 36:25 says ‘ Then I will sprinkle clean water on you and you will be clean, I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from your idols. ‘

When you are a vessel of honor, you are more like Jesus and less like the world, your  character changes which definitely makes you a better person, someone who has the attributes of a true friend, one who builds others and draws them closer to God.

God’s nature in you attracts people to you, both good and bad. Bad people to steal, destroy and kill you (John 10:10)

God protects His own,  this is where because you are growing to be more like Him ( Romans 8:29) , you are in God’s perfect will and in the path that He has created for you. This causes you to attract the true friends,  true love and destiny helpers ( Psalms 32:8) . He directs you on where to be, at what time and doing what, this in turn makes you meet the right people at the right time. Right company will always strive to better you.  All of us yearn for true friends and love…question is are you a true friend? Will you rub your godly character on others thereby bettering them and drawing them to God?  Or are you set out to destroy others? ( John 10:10)
