Luke 17: 1-4
Then said he unto the disciples, it is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.
Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying i repent, thou shalt forgive him. (KJV)
I have had this in my heart for so long. I was seated in my house having a conversation with the Holy Spirit. I told Him how my spirit was grieved…not because He didn’t know but because i just needed to talk to Him about all that was going on.
This goes out to all those who in one way or another have been hurt, disappointed and shunned by the church or more so us who claim to be born again.
I have met people who have bluntly told me that they will never ever step into a church again, sometime back i was with a group of girlfriends heading for a rehearsal and out of the six of us…five said the same thing because of having had bad experiences. Some people usually mention that if that is how born again believers behave then they want nothing to do with the Christ we preached…these comments always breaks my heart.
I am truly sorry that we have hurt you. I am truly sorry that we have disappointed you, i am truly sorry that when you needed us to encourage you and stand by you we instead shunned you and judged you, thereby taking our Lord Jesus back to the cross and crucifying Him.
Please forgive us…we apologise and ask that you forgive us for preaching one thing and acting the total opposite.
I as an individual, Fenny Christine Atieno would like to apologise on behalf of the church and my fellow Christians. I won’t give an excuse for to justify our behavior but i would like to ask you to focus on the one who shed His blood for you and i.
Focus on the only perfect one, feed your spirit man, forgive others so you can have a clear conscience, serve God with all that you are and have and most importantly pray.
Pray for your fellow brethren, that the Adamic nature in them not only faints but dies. Pray that Christ’s nature is formed in us all. Pray that we emulate Christ in words and deeds for we have been called to be like Christ and not like our fellow Christians.
Pray that we truly show the love of Christ to all and that we all contribute to the building of the body of Christ. Let us stand in the gap for each other so we can continuously be examples to the whole world.
And please don’t stay away from fellowship, from church, come and listen to what God has for you from His servants because although fellowship is bound to hurt…we are still required to honor and pray for God’s servants.
Don’t look at what others do, just do what you know Christ would do if He was in the same situation. It is not easy but we thank God for grace…let us strive to be better as individuals as we work out our salvation with fear and trembling so that if ever someone looked at an example of a Christian, they would point to us…to you and me.
Let us glorify God in our words and deed and if ever we made a mistake, let us correct each other in love…thereby making ourselves better.
